The job description
About the Role
What if your years of biology training could directly shape how AI understands and reasons about life sciences — from cellular mechanisms to complex biochemical pathways? We're looking for biology experts to help evaluate and improve cutting-edge AI models, ensuring they think with the rigor and precision that real science demands.
This is a fully remote, flexible contract role built for researchers and academics. No AI background needed — just deep domain knowledge and a sharp eye for scientific reasoning.
What You'll Do
- Design advanced biology problems and questions to rigorously test AI performance across undergraduate to PhD-level topics
- Develop clear, step-by-step solutions with precise, well-structured scientific reasoning
- Evaluate AI-generated outputs for factual accuracy, logical soundness, and quality of biological reasoning
- Collaborate with researchers to refine benchmarks and improve how AI models handle complex scientific concepts
- Work independently and asynchronously — fully on your own schedule
Who You Are
- Pursuing or holding a PhD in Biology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, or a closely related field
- Strong scientific reasoning skills across advanced biology domains
- Able to communicate complex ideas clearly and provide structured, actionable feedback in writing
- Detail-oriented and methodical — you notice when reasoning doesn't hold up
- No prior AI or tech experience required
Nice to Have
- Experience with data annotation, data quality, or evaluation workflows
- Background in research, academic writing, or peer review
- Familiarity with AI tools or language models as an end user
- Expertise spanning multiple biology subdisciplines — molecular biology, genetics, physiology, ecology, or beyond
Why Join Us
- Work on cutting-edge AI projects alongside leading research labs
- Fully remote and flexible — work when and where it suits you
- Freelance autonomy with the structure of meaningful, task-based work
- Direct exposure to how large language models are trained and evaluated at the frontier
- Contribute to AI development that shapes how science is understood by technology
- Potential for ongoing work and contract extension as new projects launch
