The job description
About the Role
What if your voice could directly shape how AI communicates with millions of German speakers around the world? We're looking for professional German-speaking voice actors to record high-quality audio and evaluate AI-generated speech — helping next-generation AI systems sound natural, expressive, and authentically human.
This is a fully remote, flexible contract role built for experienced voice professionals. No AI background needed — just a commanding German voice, a professional setup, and a sharp ear for quality.
- Organization: Alignerr
- Type: Hourly Contract
- Location: Remote
- Note: This role does not involve voice cloning of any kind.
What You'll Do
- Record professional-grade German voice performances using a large diaphragm microphone, following provided scripts and creative prompts
- Evaluate AI-generated German speech for naturalness, pronunciation accuracy, emotional expression, and overall quality
- Provide detailed, actionable feedback to help improve synthesized voice outputs
- Review scripts and suggest adjustments to enhance clarity and ensure authentic, natural-sounding delivery
- Work independently and asynchronously — fully on your own schedule
Who You Are
- Native or near-native fluency in German with a strong, expressive vocal presence
- Professional background in voice acting, narration, audiobooks, dubbing, or related performance-based audio work
- Access to a large diaphragm microphone and a quiet, acoustically controlled recording environment
- Ability to deliver engaging, expressive, and well-articulated vocal performances across a range of tones and styles
- A sharp, critical ear for nuance — you notice when pronunciation, rhythm, or emotion is slightly off
- Self-motivated and reliable when working independently
Nice to Have
- Experience evaluating or directing voice performances in a studio or remote context
- Familiarity with AI audio tools or voice synthesis platforms
- Background in linguistics, phonetics, or speech pathology
- Knowledge of regional German dialects and accent variations
Why Join Us
- Work on cutting-edge AI projects alongside leading research labs and Fortune 500 companies
- Fully remote and flexible — record and review on your own schedule, from your own studio
- Freelance autonomy with the structure of meaningful, task-based work
- Your voice directly influences how AI sounds for German speakers worldwide
- Gain firsthand exposure to state-of-the-art large language models and AI voice training workflows
- Top contributors may be considered for leadership roles in future initiatives
