The job description
Opportunity Snapshot
Pay: $25-50/hour
Weekly commitment: Flexible — work on your own schedule
Your tasks: Pick charts from your field, write questions about them, and explain the right answer
micro1 is looking for people who read charts for a living. Your job is to turn them into questions that test whether an AI can actually interpret data — and then explain the correct answer step by step.
If you work with graphs, plots, or dashboards in your field, you already have what this needs. No AI experience required.
We’re especially interested in people from:
Medicine & biostatistics · Finance & economics · Engineering & physics · Earth sciences & GIS · Data science & statistics · Operations & manufacturing
What you’ll do
- Choose charts from your own field — the kind you’d actually see in a paper, report, or dashboard.
- Write questions that require real reasoning to answer: calculations, comparisons, reading a trend, combining two series.
- Give the correct answer, and walk through how you got there.
- Use the right terms for what you’re describing: axes, scales, units, legends, error bars, time periods.
- Flag a chart or question that turns out to be ambiguous instead of submitting it anyway.
What we’re looking for
- Two or more years working with charts and quantitative data — professionally, academically, or in research.
- A degree in a quantitative or technical field, or equivalent hands-on experience.
- Comfortable with charts that have several data series, annotations, or statistical features.
- Able to explain a calculation clearly in English, in writing.
- Experience writing exam questions, assessments, or analytical exercises is a plus, but not required.
How the selection process works
- Apply and complete the screening questions
- Complete the AI interview for this role — it’s how your expertise gets in front of the client
- Profile review
- Onboarding — our Talent Ops team will get you set up
