The job description
Time Commitment: 15-25 hours/week, short-term project
micro1 is looking for Postal Clerks to help evaluate and improve AI systems on postal service topics. You’ll use your front-counter experience to check that questions sound like real customers and that answers are correct and useful. Accuracy comes first. No AI experience is needed; your domain knowledge is what matters.
Scope of Work
- Review sample postal questions and flag any that don’t sound like what real customers ask.
- Write rubrics that define a correct, complete answer on mail classes, shipping options, postage, fees, and shipping labels.
- Cover package tracking, missing or damaged mail, change of address and mail forwarding, and international mailing and customs forms in your rubrics.
- Evaluate AI-generated answers against your rubrics, flagging errors, omissions, and outdated guidance.
- Share clear written feedback with the project team, working asynchronously.
Required Qualifications
- Current, former, or retired USPS frontline experience (postal clerk, sales and service associate, or retail associate)
- 1+ years helping customers in person at a post office counter
- Working knowledge of mail classes, shipping options, postage, tracking, and change of address
- US-based
- Able to start quickly and commit 15-25 hours/week
- Clear, precise writing
Not a fit: Mail carrier, mail processing, or private shipping store experience alone
Nice to Have
- Experience with international mail and customs documentation
- Experience handling missing or damaged mail claims
- Experience creating guides, FAQs, or training materials
- Experience helping a diverse range of customers, including rural and non-English-speaking communities
