The job description
Opportunity Snapshot
Pay: $55 - $100 per hour
Location: Fully Remote, Worldwide
You’ll need: Professional experience selecting, editing or retouching images for publication, clients or brands
Your tasks: Review images, choose the best ones, correct technical problems and explain your decisions in writing
You’ll review and edit images and judge their quality, accuracy and fit for a purpose. This is a good fit if you work as a photo editor, picture editor, visual editor or retoucher and make decisions about which images to use and how to correct them.
Scope of Work
- Look at sets of images and pick the strongest one for a given purpose.
- Judge technical quality: exposure, focus, color, noise and cropping.
- Mark images that were altered in a way that changes what they show.
- Check that captions and descriptions match what the image actually shows.
- Write a short explanation for each decision so a reviewer can follow your reasoning.
- Correct or retouch images following a brief.
What we’re looking for
- Professional work as a photo editor, picture editor, visual editor, retoucher or photo producer.
- Daily use of professional tools such as Lightroom, Photoshop or Capture One.
- Experience delivering images to a real audience: print, web, social, broadcast or brand work.
- Comfort explaining why one image works and another doesn’t.
- Clear written English.
How the selection process works
- Apply with your resume and a short profile.
- Complete the editing interview. It is a short conversation about your experience with image selection and editing. You don’t need to prepare, look at anything or write anything. Finishing it is what moves your application forward.
- Review. We check your experience against what the project needs.
- Onboarding and first task. If selected, you get the guidelines and start with an initial task, which is reviewed before you continue.
