The job description
About the Role
What if your love of film and your instinct for visual storytelling could directly influence how AI understands the world on screen? We're looking for Film Scene Description Specialists to watch short video clips and translate what they see into precise, structured descriptions — helping AI systems learn how scenes are composed, paced, and emotionally communicated.
This is a fully remote, flexible contract role open to anyone with a strong visual eye and a knack for descriptive writing. No professional film background required — just a genuine interest in how stories are told through the camera.
What You'll Do
- Watch short film or video clips and break them down into structured, beat-by-beat visual descriptions
- Describe camera movement, framing, shot composition, pacing, blocking, and mood
- Communicate emotional tone and atmosphere using purely visual indicators — no dialogue references
- Follow standardized formatting guidelines to produce consistent, high-quality scene summaries
- Re-watch clips as needed to capture accurate and complete details
- Maintain quality and consistency across a high volume of scene descriptions
Who You Are
- Genuinely interested in film, television, or visual storytelling
- Able to articulate what you see on screen in clear, precise, structured writing
- Detail-oriented and thorough — you notice what others miss
- Comfortable working independently and managing your own time
- No professional film, production, or screenwriting experience required
Nice to Have
- Background in film studies, photography, cinematography, or media arts
- Experience writing scripts, shot lists, or production documents
- Familiarity with visual storytelling concepts such as mise-en-scène, montage, or shot types
Why Join Us
- Work on cutting-edge AI projects alongside leading research labs
- Fully remote and flexible — work when and where it suits you
- Freelance autonomy with the structure of meaningful, task-based work
- Put your passion for film to work in a way that has real impact on emerging technology
- Potential for ongoing work and contract extension as new projects launch
