The job description

In this role, you'll apply your expertise to help train next-generation AI systems. Your work will shape how models learn, reason, and perform through high-quality, real-world input. No prior experience in AI is required — your domain knowledge is what matters. This opportunity is ideal for seasoned marine survey professionals comfortable working remotely and providing critical analysis based on vessel and cargo imagery, documentation, and reporting requirements.
Scope of Work
- Review and assess digital imagery and documentation related to container and cargo condition at transfer and handover points.
- Analyze vessel draft marks and tank gauges to determine cargo quantity and integrity, applying marine measurement standards.
- Prepare clear, concise, and accurate marine survey reports, articulating findings and professional reasoning for each surveyor’s call.
- Evaluate compliance with international marine survey standards and best practices in all deliverables.
- Provide actionable feedback to refine and improve AI data labeling and maritime decision-making processes.
- Collaborate asynchronously through written and verbal communication channels, delivering insights and expertise to the project team.
- Reference and apply guidelines from organizations such as NAMS, SAMS, or IIMS where applicable.
Preferred Qualifications
- At least 7 years of professional experience conducting marine cargo and draft surveys, with a strong track record of independent or consultancy assignments.
- Certification from a recognized maritime academy or valid Certificate of Competency (CoC).
- Proficiency in container & cargo condition surveys, marine measurement protocols, and report writing to international standards.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret imagery and documentation remotely, confidently making surveyor’s calls with well-supported reasoning.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a focus on clarity and detail in reporting and collaboration.
- Membership or accreditation with NAMS, SAMS, or IIMS is highly desirable.
- Experience working in a remote, digital-first environment and engaging with cross-functional project teams.
