The job description
About the Role
What if your sharp ear and native command of Castilian Spanish could directly improve how AI understands spoken language? We're looking for detail-oriented transcript editors to review, clean up, and correct audio transcripts — ensuring every word, timestamp, and formatting detail is precise enough to train the next generation of AI speech systems.
This is meticulous, rewarding work for people who care about getting the details right. If you're the kind of person who notices a missing accent, a misheard word, or a timestamp that's slightly off, this role was made for you.
This is a fully remote, flexible contract role. No prior AI experience needed — just native-level Castilian Spanish, strong listening skills, and a commitment to precision.
What You'll Do
- Listen to audio recordings and compare them against existing transcripts, correcting errors at the word level
- Fix misheard words, misspellings, punctuation errors, and formatting inconsistencies
- Verify and adjust word-level timestamps to ensure precise alignment with the audio
- Apply detailed style and formatting guidelines consistently across all tasks
- Flag unclear audio, overlapping speech, or segments that require additional review
- Maintain high accuracy and quality standards across large volumes of transcript data
- Work independently and asynchronously — fully on your own schedule
Who You Are
- Native Spanish speaker from Spain — deep familiarity with Castilian pronunciation, vocabulary, and regional nuances is essential
- Excellent listening skills with the ability to accurately distinguish words in varied audio conditions
- Highly detail-oriented with a methodical, patient approach to repetitive precision work
- Comfortable working with exact timing and word-level accuracy
- Able to follow and consistently apply detailed style guides and formatting rules
- Strong written communication skills in Spanish
- Self-motivated and reliable when working independently
- No prior AI or tech experience required
Nice to Have
- Experience as a transcriptionist, court reporter, or stenographer
- Background in subtitling, closed-captioning, or subtitle editing
- Linguistics training or academic background in Spanish language studies
- Prior work with annotation platforms, data labeling tools, or transcript editing software
- Familiarity with phonetics, speech processing, or audio analysis
- Experience following detailed editorial or formatting style guides
Why Join Us
- Work on cutting-edge AI speech and language projects alongside leading research labs
- Fully remote and flexible — work when and where it suits you
- Freelance autonomy with the structure of meaningful, task-based work
- Contribute directly to improving how AI understands and processes spoken Spanish
- Potential for ongoing work and contract extension as new projects launch
- Join a global community of language specialists doing work that matters
