The job description
About the Role
What if your Scottish accent could directly shape how AI understands and communicates with millions of people around the world? We're looking for professional voice actors and voice-over artists with authentic Scottish accents to take part in paid studio recording sessions for a leading AI speech research project.
This is a contract role for working voice professionals. Your voice — and the natural, distinctive way you speak — is exactly what this project needs.
- Organisation: Alignerr
- Type: Hourly Contract
- Session Format: In-person professional studio recording
- Total Commitment: 2–3 sessions of 4 hours each
> Important: This project does not involve voice cloning. Your recordings are used purely to improve how AI systems understand natural human speech.
What You'll Do
- Record natural, conversational Scottish English speech in a professional studio environment
- Participate in single-speaker recording sessions and dual-speaker dialogue exchanges
- Deliver realistic, unscripted-sounding speech across a variety of prompts and scenarios
- Follow light directorial guidance to vary tone, pacing, and delivery
- Bring authenticity and professionalism to every session
Who You Are
- A professional voice actor or voice-over artist with documented experience
- A native or near-native Scottish English speaker with an authentic regional accent
- Currently based in Scotland
- Comfortable recording natural conversational dialogue — not just formal narration
- Reliable, punctual, and receptive to direction in a studio environment
- Fluent in English at a working communication level
Nice to Have
- Acting or performance background
- Prior experience in broadcast, podcast, or commercial studio recording
- Comfort with both solo performance and dialogue-based recording
Why Join Us
- Competitive hourly contract pay for professional studio work
- Contribute to cutting-edge AI research alongside leading AI labs
- A clearly defined, manageable time commitment — 2 to 3 sessions total
- Work that genuinely matters — your voice helps AI better understand real Scottish speech
- Join a professional, well-organised production process with full session support
- Potential for additional sessions as new projects launch
