The job description

About the Role

What if your voice could directly shape how AI understands real human speech? We're looking for professional voice actors and voice-over artists with an authentic Welsh accent to take part in paid studio recording sessions for a leading AI speech research project.

This is a contract role involving a small number of focused recording sessions. Your voice will help AI systems better understand natural, conversational English as it's genuinely spoken in Wales — making technology more accurate and inclusive for Welsh speakers everywhere.

This project does not involve voice cloning.

  • Organisation: Alignerr
  • Type: Contract
  • Session Format: In-person professional studio recording
  • Session Length: 4 hours per session (2–3 sessions total)

What You'll Do

  • Record natural, conversational Welsh-accented English speech in a professional studio environment
  • Participate in single-speaker sessions and dual-speaker dialogue recordings
  • Deliver realistic, human-sounding dialogue that feels unscripted and authentic
  • Follow light direction to vary tone, pacing, and delivery style
  • Bring your genuine Welsh accent to every session — that's the whole point

Who You Are

  • A professional voice actor or voice-over artist with demonstrable experience
  • A native or near-native Welsh accent speaker — authentic regional sound is essential
  • Comfortable performing natural conversational speech, not just scripted reads
  • Reliable, professional, and receptive to direction in a studio setting
  • Fluent in English at a working level for communication and session participation
  • Currently based in Wales

Nice to Have

  • Acting or performance background
  • Prior experience in broadcast, podcast production, or professional studio recording
  • Comfort with dialogue-based and improvisation-style performance

Why Join Us

  • Contribute to cutting-edge AI speech research alongside leading research labs
  • Competitive contract pay for a focused, short-term commitment
  • Work on a project with real-world impact — helping AI better understand how Welsh people actually speak
  • Professional studio environment — no home setup required
  • Be part of meaningful AI development that puts authentic regional voices at the centre
