The job description
micro1 is engaging Federal Regulatory Policy Analysts to participate in a project supporting a federal government customer. In this role, you'll apply your expertise to help train next-generation AI systems. Your work will shape how models learn, reason, and perform through high-quality, real-world input. No prior experience in AI is required — your domain knowledge is what matters.
Scope of Work
- Develop realistic, scenario-based regulatory assignments based on federal rulemaking processes.
- Review and provide detailed feedback on other contributors’ submissions to ensure accuracy and adherence to real-world policy standards.
- Summarize public comments received on proposed federal regulations and categorize them by theme and substance.
- Draft clear, well-justified agency response text to substantive public comments, reflecting best practices in regulatory policymaking.
- Recommend the adoption or rejection of public proposals using evidence-based reasoning and reference to applicable regulations.
- Ensure all project deliverables authentically represent federal regulatory drafting, comment review, and response-to-comment workflows.
Preferred Qualifications
- Current or former experience as a federal regulatory analyst, policy specialist, or attorney-advisor (e.g., OPM GS-0301, GS-0905, or equivalent).
- Thorough understanding of federal rulemaking, including drafting and public comment analysis.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with meticulous attention to regulatory detail.
- Hands-on experience drafting notices, proposed and final rules, or agency responses to petitions and public input.
- Familiarity with the Federal Register, regulations.gov, or OMB regulatory review processes.
- Background in legal analysis, administrative law, or regulatory compliance (law degree a plus but not required).
- US-based professional with demonstrable expertise in federal regulatory policy development.
