The job description
Outlier partners with leading AI companies to improve how artificial intelligence understands real people: how we speak, express emotion, communicate intent, and respond naturally in everyday situations.
We are looking for native Simplified Chinese speakers who are comfortable using their voice. This project is a strong fit for people who can bring clarity, personality, and emotional range to short audio recordings. You do not need to be a professional actor, but you should be expressive, confident, and able to speak naturally in front of a microphone.
What You'll Work On
You may be asked to complete a variety of audio and text-based tasks, such as:
- Recording short audio clips
- Reading or acting brief scripts with different tones, emotions, or speaking styles
- Listening to or reviewing audio clips and capturing details in text
- Helping improve AI systems' understanding of human speech, tone, and expression

This opportunity may be a great match if you have experience in:
- Acting, theater, or improv
- Podcasting, streaming, or vocal performance
- Call centers, sales, or customer support

- Any role where clear, expressive communication is important
Naturally outgoing and expressive speakers are encouraged to apply, even without formal performance experience.
Requirements

- Strong vocal clarity, expression, and emotional range
- Quiet, distraction-free recording environment
- Reliable internet connection

- Classical vocal training or public speaking background
- Professional microphone or home recording setup
