The job description

Mercor is seeking a senior business strategy expert with deep experience in the luxury automotive sector (e.g., Ferrari, Lamborghini, Porsche, Bentley, Rolls-Royce, Aston Martin, McLaren, Maserati) for a short, focused advisory engagement. You will review strategy materials, market insights, and recommendations and give a candid, C-suite-level perspective on how executives at leading luxury automakers would react to them.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review strategy materials, including market insights, analyses, and strategic recommendations related to the luxury automotive space.
  • Assess the materials through the lens of a C-suite executive at a luxury automaker: would a CEO, CFO, CMO, or Chief Strategy Officer find this compelling, credible, and actionable?
  • Identify logical gaps, red flags, unsupported assumptions, and internal inconsistencies across the insights and recommendations.
  • Flag where recommendations conflict with how luxury automotive businesses actually operate, e.g. brand scarcity and exclusivity, production volume discipline, pricing power, personalisation and bespoke programs, dealer and client relationships, residual values, electrification strategy, and brand heritage.
  • Point out what is missing: considerations a luxury auto leadership team would expect to see addressed.
  • Deliver clear, structured written feedback (and optionally a short debrief call) summarising key strengths, concerns, and suggested improvements.

Required Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in business strategy, with substantial, demonstrable focus on the luxury automotive sector.
  • One or more of the following backgrounds:
  • Partner, Principal, Associate Partner, or senior consultant at a top strategy firm (McKinsey, BCG, Bain, or comparable) with clear past casework for luxury or premium automotive clients.
  • Senior leadership or strategy role at a luxury automaker (e.g., corporate strategy, brand, commercial, product planning, or executive office).
  • Senior advisor or board-level experience with luxury automotive or adjacent ultra-luxury brands.
  • Strong understanding of how luxury automotive executives make decisions, including brand positioning, volume and allocation strategy, pricing, customer experience, and long-term brand equity.
  • Proven ability to critically review strategy documents and give sharp, structured, executive-ready feedback.
  • Excellent written communication in English.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Direct experience working at or advising brands such as Ferrari, Lamborghini, Porsche, Bentley, Rolls-Royce, Aston Martin, McLaren, or Bugatti.
  • Exposure to adjacent luxury categories (fashion, watches, yachts, private aviation) and how luxury brand principles carry across them.
  • Experience presenting to or working alongside C-suite executives and boards.
  • Familiarity with current industry dynamics such as electrification, ultra-high-net-worth client trends, regional demand (US, Europe, Middle East, China), and personalisation programs.

Why Join

  • Apply your luxury automotive strategy expertise to a focused, high-impact advisory project.
  • Shape strategic thinking that will be put in front of senior decision-makers.
  • Flexible, remote, well-scoped engagement that fits around your existing commitments.
