The job description

In this hourly, remote contractor role, you will work as a Senior Video Editing Quality Assurance Specialist (SME) to review and evaluate AI-generated and human-edited video content, ensuring professional post-production quality, technical accuracy, visual consistency, and adherence to project-specific guidelines.

You will assess video outputs for editing quality, pacing, continuity, transitions, color grading, audio synchronization, storytelling, technical specifications, and overall production standards. You will identify editing errors, provide precise written feedback, compare multiple video outputs, and help establish consistent quality expectations across video editing and AI training projects.

This role is with SME Careers, a fast-growing AI Data Services company and subsidiary of SuperAnnotate, delivering training data for many of the world’s largest AI companies and foundation-model labs. Your professional video editing expertise will directly help improve the world’s premier AI models by making their video understanding, editing, and generation capabilities more accurate, consistent, and aligned with professional production standards.

Portfolio requirement

Mandatory: As a part of selection process, applicants must ready to provide a working link to a professional video demo reel or portfolio that can be accessed by the SuperAnnotate team.

The portfolio should demonstrate professional editing capabilities, preferably including commercial, broadcast, film, television, or advanced digital video projects.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate video editing quality: Review edited and AI-generated video content for pacing, continuity, transitions, storytelling, visual consistency, audio quality, and professional production standards.
  • Perform technical quality assurance: Identify frame-rate inconsistencies, dropped frames, codec issues, color mismatches, synchronization problems, compression artifacts, and export-related defects.
  • Optimize AI video performance: Evaluate and compare AI-generated video outputs, identifying visual artifacts, temporal inconsistencies, unnatural motion, continuity problems, and editing-quality issues.
  • Develop AI training content: Create expert-level editing scenarios, reference examples, quality assessments, and structured feedback that reflect real-world post-production standards.
  • Ensure production consistency: Evaluate adherence to creative briefs, editing instructions, style guides, technical specifications, and project-specific rubrics.
  • Provide expert feedback: Clearly document video editing errors, explain their impact, and recommend appropriate corrections using professional editing terminology.
  • Support quality calibration: Help establish consistent evaluation standards across editors, reviewers, and video quality assessment workflows.
  • Maintain professional standards: Ensure reviewed content meets expectations for visual storytelling, technical delivery, audio-visual coherence, and overall production quality.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of professional video editing experience in film, television, broadcast, advertising, commercial production, digital media, or related post-production environments.
  • English proficiency at C1–C2 level to understand complex project guidelines, communicate technical feedback, and provide detailed written evaluations in English.
  • Advanced proficiency in at least two non-linear editing (NLE) systems, with Adobe Premiere Pro and DaVinci Resolve strongly preferred. Experience with Avid Media Composer or Final Cut Pro is also valuable.
  • Previous experience as a Lead Editor, Senior Video Editor, Post-Production Supervisor, QC Coordinator, or in a comparable quality-focused production role.
  • A shareable professional video demo reel or portfolio is mandatory, and must be accessible to the SuperAnnotate team for evaluation.
  • Deep understanding of editing fundamentals, including pacing, continuity, shot selection, narrative structure, transitions, visual composition, and storytelling.
  • Strong knowledge of video technical standards, including frame rates, resolutions, codecs, containers, aspect ratios, color spaces, export settings, and broadcast/digital delivery specifications.
  • Experience with color correction, color grading, audio editing, synchronization, sound mixing, subtitles, captions, and motion graphics.
  • Ability to identify subtle editing defects, including jump cuts, continuity errors, dropped frames, audio drift, inconsistent color, compression artifacts, inappropriate transitions, and technical delivery issues.
  • Strong analytical judgment and attention to detail, with the ability to explain why an edit does or does not meet professional standards.
  • Experience reviewing other editors' work, providing structured feedback, conducting technical QC, or supervising post-production workflows.
  • Reliable, self-directed, and able to maintain consistent quality in an hourly, remote contractor environment across time zones.
  • Prior experience with AI-generated video evaluation, AI data training, video annotation, multimedia QA, or rubric-based evaluation is a strong plus.
